Wittenbach Wingfield Creative is a strategic integrated communications and design studio that is focused on the success of projects for non-profit and creative organizations that includes design and production for books and covers for established publishers; print and digital publications, marketing, and advertising; and exhibitions and signage.

The principal, Teresa W. Wingfield, is an experienced designer, art director, editorial and book designer, assistant editor, writer, researcher, entrepreneur, teacher, and collaborator, who has worked as both staff, freelancer, and consultant for various internal and external clients, building positive and productive relationships. Outcomes deliver on strategic and creative thinking to accomplish organizational goals, innovative outcomes, and intra- and entrepreneurial approaches.

As a communication design Faculty of Record, Teresa helped her undergraduate students understand the interdependency of concept, content, design, user, and technology. She taught Introduction to Communication Design, Typography 1, and Typography 2 classes and also substitute taught in Imaging 1 and Design History classes. She was a remote adjunct instructor for a small college in Arkansas, teaching a Typography and Layout class and an Advertising class for one semester. While a graduate student, Teresa added basic HTML/CSS and motion graphics/video editing to her typography and design skills. She graduated with her MFA in Communication Design in May 2020.

International explorations included a study abroad class to Bauhaus sites in Germany during the Bauhaus centennial, to speak with various designers and foundations in Berlin and Amsterdam, and to participate in the P98a Letterpress Workshop in Berlin. This supported Teresa’s interests in design, architecture, typography, printing, and history. Additionally, as part of a small team of classmates, Teresa contributed to a cross-cultures, collaborative project of five international universities. Together all researched the topic of immigration, with each small team working to address a related need of a local community partner. Teresa, with her team, partnered with the Little Walnut Creek Branch Library in Austin, TX to develop and present a proposal for an innovative solution that was well-received by library administrators.

Her thesis research investigates the intersection of communication design in publishing, innovation, and historical futures. It examines the influence and impact communication design (text+image+design) has on the engagement with and adoption of new technologies and innovations in everyday life. This research had its genesis in her understanding of the importance of design to communicating scholarship in the form of books, as well as its importance to start-up pitch endeavors.

Teresa has participated in entrepreneurship classes and cross-disciplinary startup bootcamps with graduate and undergraduate students to generate innovative potential ventures. As assistant faculty, she helped with virtual entrepreneur workshops at Texas State University. Additionally, she consulted for in-person Materials Science Engineering Commercialization (MSEC) Bootcamps in 2018 and contributed to two successful MSEC teams at the Rice Business Plan Competition in 2019. She presented her Design Entrepreneurship class project, along with faculty, at the Online Educa Berlin (OEB) conference, December 2018, in Berlin.

Subsequently, lending support to an ag-tech startup with a global focus, she initially provided art direction and design to support marketing, communication strategy, sales materials, and also redesigned the original website. Teresa was then promoted to work closely with the CFO on a variety of legal, financial, operations and supply chain projects and process design. She built and managed the company-wide project management software system and collaborated with department leaders and staff to accommodate changing company needs. Teresa also worked closely with the CEO on preparations for bi-monthly Board meetings generated in a new software interface as well as building a Data Room in another new software for the CEO’s communications with and cultivation of investors for the next funding raise.

Having begun her career running a one-color press and using phototypesetting equipment, photostat cameras, and manual pasteup, Teresa is experienced with design production, such as typesetting and paging, writing specifications, checking proofs and conducting press checks. Ever deadline oriented, Teresa has an understanding of and adherence to schedules and cost constraints.
